JOB DESCRIPTION   

The Executive Assistant of Conservation provides administrative support and coordination to the Senior Vice President of Conservation, and the Vice President of Conservation Impact, and tasks as assigned. They serve as part of the Conservation Department Core Team and serve a central coordination role to ensure that our conservation tools and strategies are deployed well throughout the country and our team is united.  

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage and coordinate complicated daily calendars and travel arrangements of two senior executives 
  • Coordinate logistics and agendas for conservation management meetings and retreats between multiple teams 
  • Lead the coordination of administrative tasks for the American Rivers Action Fund 
  • Help encourage collaboration by taking notes, sharing meeting summaries and providing written updates about the team to the organization  
  • Support and help manage onboarding of conservation staff and contractors 
  • Manage conservation management team budgets, contracts, and expenses  
  • Manage deadlines around annual planning and strategic plan results tracking  
  • Draft materials and send correspondence, as requested 
  • Help coordinate American Rivers annual lobby days, as requested  
  • Provide research support, as requested 
  • Depending on experience, may serve as backup for the executive assistant to the President 
  • Projects as assigned 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

A successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree and at least 5-7 years of office experience. They will be detail oriented, organized, and flexible. Excellent communication skills are required, along with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. A self-motivated, proactive and reliable, independent person with excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgment will do well in the organization.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and virtual platforms including Zoom, is required. Limited travel is expected. We are a fast-paced organization looking to make a big, scaling impact on rivers so those who like an exciting, quick work environment will thrive here. A passion for rivers is a plus, but not required.   

LOCATION 

Location is flexible, although someone on Eastern Standard Time is preferred. 

COMPENSATION  

The salary for this position is $75,000 – $90,000 depending on experience and qualifications. American Rivers offers full-time employees a generous benefits package that includes health, dental and life insurance; a retirement plan, training budget, sick leave, 11 paid holidays, four weeks of paid vacation, paid sabbaticals every seven years, and a 3% retirement match.
